I. The Dean and Deanery:
Fr Brian attended a meeting in April for Dean's. They explained the role of the Dean. The following items were mentioned by Fr. Brian.

1. Dean is voted in for three year.
2.  Transfered, he would lose the title and the Deanery would have to select a new one.
3. Dean has to meet with the Bishop and the Deans of the Diocese
4. Dean must coordinate & chair any meetings within the Deanery.
5. Dean is responsible for speakers and activities. (Please briefly explain - Speakers or activities that pertain to the Deanery? Or Parishes?)
6. Dean must give Minutes to Deacon Gilligan & Vicar Msgr Schoffenberger.
7. Dean is responsible for coordinating and fostering collaboration between parishes within the Deanery. Also, the Dean is responsible for overseeing the Sacramental and Pastoral care of the Sick in Hospitals or Health Care Facilities within our Deanery.
8. Dean is liason between Bishop Demarzio and Clergy in our Deanery.

II. Schedule for Sept 2013-June 2014

III. Recording Secretary

1. Fr. Brian requested that the Juan Rodriguez (Pastoral Associate - Queen of Angels)  be the temporary Recording Secretary.
2. Fr. Brian had recommended Pastors within our Deanery to choose members of their parish staff as candidates for Recording Secretary for Deanery Meetings. We will Elect a Recording Secretary in the New Year.

IV. Communication

1.  Fr. Brian has requested from the Pastors of the Deanery to gather contact information of Clergy, Parish Staff, Parish Pastoral Council Members and Trustees within our parishes. Pastors can include the Priests who are "Weekend Help".  Fr. Brian gave a form to each Pastor and can be returned by fax (718-472-2625) or email (Pastor@QueenOfAngelsNYC.org).

2. Bulletins are another way to stay in communication. Recommendations were made to send Parish Bulletins to each pastor through email.
NOTE: Fr. Brian explained about the Cluster Corner. It is now called the "Deanery Happenings". Fran Klettner is in charge of spreading the word to the Secretaries of the Deanery by fax, and by email. To reach Fran, please email her at - franklettner@verizon.net

V. Future Topics:

1. Institutional Commodities would like to visit our Deanery
2. Create a data base of our Parish Adult Faith Formation Program within our Deanery.
3. Create a Forum on "Gay, Lesbian, & Transgender" Issues.

VI. Parish Report:

1.  Corpus Christi -

Renovation is being done to School Building. Building will be rented to Public School. Some parts of the building will be used by the Parish (For Religious Ed, Parish Groups, etc).  School will open up in September 2013.

Adjusted the Daily and Sunday Mass Schedule for the Parish. A new Deacon is working part time with the parish (Shared with Most Precious Blood). Changes to Religious Ed were implemented inviting families to participate in the English Sunday Morning Mass, or the Spanish Sunday Morning Mass. Spanish Religious Ed for children was discontinued. Agosto has joined the parish staff as the DRE.

2. Blessed Virgin Mary Help of Christians (St. Mary's)

Renovation was completed at School Building. Space is available for Religious Ed and Meetings. A Lectionary Group has been created to foster Evangelization in the Parish. It is for Spanish speaking adults. Fr. Noel has noticed an increase in Hispanic Community. He believes the parish will be largely Hispanic in 5 years.

Korean's Community have moved to St. Raphael's who has facilities that can support their apostolate.


3. St Raphael's

The Korean Community returned to the parish. They have become a vital part of the community. They are now using the old school building for their apostolate.

Religious Ed – Children were allowed to do their First Communion in English, Spanish, or Korean.

St Raphael's is starting a concert series to help raise funds to refurbish the organ of the parish. The first one will be in September.

Con Ed did Energy Saving Audit. Details on the saving for St Raphael's can be found on the attached JPEG.

4. St Sebastian's

Easter Season - The parish showed the documentary, "Catholicism". About 60 people attended each week. Other films were shown to the group - one of them being "Perfect Stranger". Msgr. Hardiman recommended this film to the Deanery.

St Sebastian's School - Registration continues for the school. There are 430 students registered for September 2013.  Fifty Nine students graduated for 2013. A new bathroom was constructed for the Pre K wing of the school and upgrades are being made for the Entrance for better security.

5. St Teresa's

 Renovation is being done to the old Convent. Completion by August 2013. Collection was made for 9 month to restore the interior of the Church. Renovation has been completed for the interior of the Church. A new Bathroom was put in behind the Sacristy

Religious Ed Program received 360 Students for 2012-2013. Queen of Angels joined St Teresa's for Confirmation. Celebrant was Bishop Sanchez

Boys & Girls Club of Sunnyside/Woodside is using the parish facility for their activities. They will be hosting a Summer Basketball Tournament for the Sunnyside & Woodside.

Parish started a new youth group (Troopers of Faith). It meets on Fridays at 7PM. The youth group was awarded a grant to help them continue their work in the parish. Ages range from 13 to 30. There are 20-30 members.

There is a possibility in renting the entire School building. The first floor of the building was rented out to P.S. 199 for 5 Kindegarden classes. Plans for renting the entire School Building is on hold. Details will follow in the future.

Project Connect (Coordinated with St John's University) will be hosting a workshop for Parenting - focused on the Hispanic Parents who seek help and tips on parenting. It will begin June 30, 2013. It is free. Details can be found on parish bulletin.

6. Queen of Angels

Celebrating it's 60th Anniversary. Our first event will be our Parish Picnic on Sunday, June 30th. Details of parish Grand Raffle and other 60th Anniversary Events, Mass, and Dinner Dance can be found on

Several youth and young adult groups have formed in the parish: Dreamers Club Youth Group, Magnificat Young Adults, Guardian Angels Corp Altar Servers, and Familia de Nazaret.

Renovation to the interior of the Church has been completed. We are renovating the exterior of the Church. To be completed by August 2013.

 Unity Stage and Freedom Within are hosting Summer Workshops and activities for youth of Sunnyside at Queen of Angels Church. Details can be found in our bulletin.

VII. Other Business

Msgr Ferrari recommended an Exhibition on the Eucharist called "Illuminating Faith: The Eucharist in Medieval Life and Art" at the Morgan Library and Museum - 225 Madison Ave, East 36th Street, NY NY 10016.  - Details can be found on
